"Through
the practice of singing the praises of the
One
we can open our hearts to immeasurable depths"
Kirtan
is a form of Sound Yoga known as Bhakti Yoga, the path of devotion.
SoundPath is a form of free vocal improvisation, a meditation
in sound.
This evening of traditional Kirtan chanting will conclude
with contemplative
improvisations by Sharada and Naaz offering a unique blending
of SoundPath Vocal Journeys and Kirtan Devotional Chanting. Naaz
and Sharada sing from the heart interweaving their melodies to
create a new form of music that has never been heard before.
We
invite you to come join us in singing,
listening,
meditating, or just being.
SHARADA
began singing Hindu devotional chants and playing
folk drums in the foothills of the Himalayas in India over three
decades ago. Her early vocal experiences were tied to her spiritual
practice. Sharada has played or recorded with Krishna Das, Jai
Uttal, Geoffrey Gordon, Bhagavan Das, and Naaz Hosseini.
NAAZ
HOSSEINI
combines
her skills as gestalt therapist and educator with her professional
talents as singer, dancer, and violinist to deliver a unique,
transformative experience to groups and individual that asserts
“Your Voice is Your Power.” She has performed worldwide with the
Meredith Monk Vocal Ensemble. As therapist and voice healer, Naaz
has a private practice in Nyack, Manhattan, and Mount Kisco, NY
where she works with individuals, couples, and groups.
